is a party game for everyone who wants to spend an evening of drama, intrigue,
excitement and laughter. A cross between a host-a-murder party and charades,
with a dash of double-dealing some dressing up, plus frequent opportunities
to go 'over the top', each game of
is unforgettable!
takes place in Hollywood's Golden Age, the Tinseltown of the 1940's and 50's.
As players you take the part of the major stars of the era, vying with each
other to take the leads in such classic movies as the hard-boiled gumshoe-flick
The Lebanese Sparrow, the true heroic western grit of High Moon
or the dashing romantic drama of Off With the Breeze. Players aim to
land roles that will gain the highest combination of fame and fortune.
The winners of
are those who have managed to amass the most of both star points and dollars.
But
that's not all -
has more to it than merely garnering fame and riches (fine goals though those
are). Once you have agreed amongst yourselves which movies you are going to
make, you and your team go ahead and devise the movie. Once you've worked
out what happens in your movie, you then present the trailer to all
the other players. Everyone votes for the movies they liked best, and
the game round climaxes at an Academy Awards ceremony.

Once
you have bought a copy of the
rulebook, then if you are a player then you will find it invaluable for the
game hints, tricks and tips for making your next game more enjoyable. If you
want to run your own game of
then the book contains everything you need to make the game a success, from
detailed rules and game-running instructions, and ideas for decor and prop
sourcing.
You
will need to print the game materials for everyone in the game, either
by photocopying some pages from the book, or by downloading the pdf files
you need from the
website. The website contains extra game materials, such as new movie titles
and movie-star characters, which there was not room for in the printed version.
Once
Game Director has made their preparations, then you are set for your

Here's
a short overview of the action in
.
Screenplay Auction. The first phase of the game consists of a number of movie screenplays being auctioned to the highest bidder. The highest bidder becomes the producer of that movie for that year. A group of players may get together to pool their resources in order to back a producer.
Casting the Movie. Once a producer has bought a screenplay, it is up to him to hire other players as actors for his movie (the producer also takes an acting role). Players can negotiate with the producer their fee from the expected profits of the movie, or come to another suitable arrangement. Each movie will add to the star status of a player to a greater or lesser extent, so some roles are particularly sought after.
Filming the Movie. Once a movie has been cast (or there are no more players available) then the producer takes his team away to devise the plot. It is here that all player's improvisational abilities are called to the fore. Each movie-making team must devise the three-minute trailer to be shown. All really good movie trailers give away the entire plot, of course.
Showing the Trailer. Once the teams have had chance to devise their movie, each is performed to the rest of the players.
Voting for Awards. When the trailers have been performed, then all players vote for their favourite actors and actresses, and their overall favourite movie. Players cannot vote for themselves - but they are free to cast their vote for any other actor or actress. Neither are players allowed to vote for their own movie - their favourite will have to be one of the others.
Academy Awards Ceremony. The round ends with the winners being announced for the Academy Awards, and the producers receive their box-office rewards.
and the winner is
The players who accumulate the most star status
and increase their wealth over two rounds are declared the winner of
.
But the real winners - just as in real life - are those who had the most fun.
